    2. Pick a style - Or leave it on Auto and Craiyon chooses one
    3. Pick a shape - Square, portrait or landscape, or Auto
    4. Create - Your images appear in seconds

  • What can I do with an image once it's made?
    • Retouch it - Describe the change, like "make the sky orange", "add a red hat" or "in watercolor"
    • Find more like it - See similar images in one click
    • Finish it - Remove the background, upscale it or turn it into an SVG
    • Animate it - Turn it into a short video
  • Can I start from my own photo?
Yes! Upload it in the photo editor and describe what you want changed, then finish it like any other image. Starting from your own photo uses credits (see "How do credits work?").
  • Is Craiyon free?
Yes! Anyone can create images on Craiyon for free.

    • Free - A limited number of images, with a watermark and possible waits at busy times
    • Paid plans - Images from our highest quality models, no watermark, private images, priority, high-quality downloads, and credits every month for retouching, upscaling, SVG and videos. Higher plans include more credits

Our subscribers keep Craiyon running and improving for everyone. Compare the plans on our pricing page.
  • Are my images public?
On the free plan, the images you create are public: anyone with their link can see them. Paid plans let you keep your images private.
  • How do credits work?
Credits are used for retouching, editing your own photos, using a reference image, upscaling, converting to SVG and making videos. Creating images from text alone does not use credits.

Paid plans include credits every month, renewed on your billing date; unused credits don't carry over. Need more? You can buy extra credit packs anytime. See our pricing page for details.
  • Can I use the images I create with Craiyon?
Yes, as long as you respect the Terms of Use, feel free to use them as you wish for personal, academic or commercial use! Characters, logos and brands still belong to their owners, so respect their rights when your images show them.

If you use Craiyon for free, please credit craiyon.com for the images. You can find our logos in white, black, and black and white.
  • What styles can I use?
Pick a style in the box where you describe your image, or leave it on Auto and Craiyon chooses the one that suits your request:

    • Artistic - Painterly looks and creative textures
    • Photo - Realistic, photographic results
    • Illustration - Drawings and digital art
    • Anime - Japanese animation looks
    • Vector - Clean, flat graphics with bold shapes
    • Raw - No style added, just your words

Logos, tattoos, posters, coloring pages, stickers and more also have their own dedicated pages. And you can name any style in your description: watercolor, pixel art, oil painting, 3D...
  • Can I choose the shape of my image?
Yes: square, portrait or landscape. On Auto, the default, Craiyon picks the shape that suits what you describe.
  • What does "Exclude" do?
It lets you list what you don't want in your image. Type things like "people", "text" or "blue colors" and Craiyon will try to leave them out.

  • How can I get better results?
    Here are our top tips:

    • Be specific - Instead of "dog", try "golden retriever playing in autumn leaves"
    • Name the style - "oil painting", "anime", "photorealistic", "watercolor"
    • Use Exclude - Leave out what you don't want
    • Start from an image you like - Open any image in the gallery or in search to see its prompt
    • Retouch instead of starting over - Describe just the change you want
    • Try small tweaks - A few more words can make a big difference

  • How can I discover and explore images?
Craiyon makes it easy to find inspiration:

    • Gallery - Browse thousands of collections in themes like Animals, Fantasy and Worlds, Anime or Home and Interiors
    • Search - Find images by keyword across the gallery
    • Daily ideas - The homepage and the logo, anime, tattoo, poster and home design pages show new ideas every day
    • Click any image - See the prompt behind it and create your own version
    • Similar images - Find related images for more ideas

Let them inspire your next masterpiece!
  • Do I need to type prompts in English?
No! Write in your own language, the way you'd say it, and Craiyon will understand. The details you give matter more than the language you use.
  • How often does Craiyon improve?
Every day! We keep improving how Craiyon understands your request and the quality of the images it makes. Your favorite prompts may look even better tomorrow!
  • How does the AI work?
AI image models learn from a very large number of images and their descriptions. When you enter a prompt, Craiyon uses that learned understanding of concepts, styles and relationships to create new, unique images that match your description, and the more precisely you describe what you want, the closer the result.
  • Are there biases or limitations in AI generated art?
Yes, like all AI models trained on internet data, our system can reflect societal biases present in its training data. This means it may sometimes generate images with stereotypes or biased representations. We're actively working to identify and reduce these biases through ongoing research and model improvements. We encourage users to be mindful of this when generating content.
  • Why am I seeing "too much traffic"?
During peak times, free users may experience brief waits. Simply try again in a moment.

Subscribers get priority and rarely see this message.
  • My images aren't loading - what should I do?
    Quick fixes to try:

    • Switch to Chrome or try incognito mode
    • Clear your browser cache
    • Disable VPN if you're using one
    • Try a different device
