Sketch the design and label parts. Create bases using wooden panels and elevate one with books to represent it going up the mountains. Glue wooden poles to each base and add flat panels on top. Then glue another pulley on the back of the vertical panel - only on the elevated side. Make a small hole right above it. Now attach the string, first, place the pile of string on a small stool or chair that is behind the elevated side. Then take the beginning of the string, go through the wooden poles (under the wooden panels holding up the pulleys), and insert it into the pulley up top. Then pull it until the string goes around the farther pulley and back. Instead of making a full circle, put the string through the hole and onto the pulley that is behind the panel. Then tie small weight(s) onto the string. Make a seat using straws and attach it to the string where it will start. Place 3 pennies on the chair. When holding the string, ensure the weights are as high as possible and the chair is at the bottom of the lift. Start the timer once the string is released. Stop the timer when the weights touch the floor and the chair is at the top of the lift. Record the time and repeat for 2 more trials. Next, add 3 more pennies for a total of 6, and conduct 3 trials, then add 3 more for a total of 9 pennies for 3 trials. Keep the weight constant throughout. Find the average time for each trial for each amount of pennies. Mehr sehen
