In the depths of a forest suspended from colorful cotton clouds that smelled of burnt pizza and dead flowers, the purple sky, split like a fresh wound, was spilling laughing stars (giant teeth). A colossal tree of whale bone, with hand-like branches and spoon-and-fork fingers, bore a skinless pink elephant atop it that blew bubbles of forgotten memories. A river of black ink flowed with foul-mouthed fish, and a giant rag doll with clockwork eyes had a smile so wide that inside its mouth, a café of shadowless people drank bitter coffee. Butterflies made of burnt book pages spilt incomplete love sentences, and the wind carried the smell of a dead child's laughter, until everything melted and you saw yourself in a mirror with twelve eyes and a dragon's tail, standing in front of a floating wooden door with your six-year-old laugh coming from behind it.
