Red and white flag with a white crescent moon and five stars on the red band.

For my Singapore flag design, I wanted to symbolize the nation's harmony, multiculturalism, and vision spirit. I kept the red as the background color to maintain the original flag's symbolism of world brotherhood and equality. In the middle, I used a stylized golden circle with five stars, all petal-shaped, to symbolize harmony among the country's dominant cultural groups—Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian, and others. The circle symbolizes perfection and unity. Rather than the crescent moon originally, I have put a rising sun in the left-hand corner to symbolize improvement, bright future, and Singapore as an emerging world power. The image I would like to convey by means of this design is the diversity resilience and commitment to unity, peace, and progress of Singapore. Compared with the current flag that utilizes more traditional symbolism of the crescent and five-point stars, my design is more pluralist and modern but is also sensitive to the initial symbolism. The elements of the design and the color are carefully selected, utilizing contrast and symmetry to create a crisp and aesthetic-looking image. Ver más
