A woman in a historical red and gold dress stands in a room with columns.

Prompt

The play starts in Venice, where Iago expresses his fury that Othello has promoted Cassio to lieutenant instead of him. He swears to get back at Othello by accusing his wife, Desdemona, of sleeping with the handsome young Cassio. Iago conspires with Rodrigo, who desperately wants Desdemona's love, to bring down Othello for their shared hatred of him. They start by telling Brabantio (Desdemona’s father) that she has run away to marry Othello, which enrages Brabantio.
