A pharaoh stands on a war chariot pulled by two horses, leading an army of Egyptian soldiers through a rocky desert valley.

Ancient Egyptian two-wheeled war chariot with spokes, and two quivers on either side of the caisson containing bows, arrows and javelins. The chariot is pulled by a team of slow-walking, gray-furred Asian horses. The horses have their backs covered by a white and green checkered caparison, their foreheads adorned with white ostrich feathers, with gold studs on the harness. On the chariot, King Thuthmose III, tanned and beardless, with eyes and eyebrows adorned with khol, his head covered by a blue crown and dressed in leather scale armor from which hangs a khopesh, and a kilt, holds himself with his hands still to the chariot's handles, while his Syrian charioteer guides the horses towards the spectator. Behind the king is a row of war chariots mounted by warriors and followed by a long line of battalions of Egyptian soldiers with their heads covered by nemes, dressed in skirts, armed with spears and marching rectangular shields. The scene takes place on a long, arduous pebbly path between high, high rocky mountains. Day under the blue sky and sunlight. Voir plus
