During Christmas, misogynistic college coach Warren Zuckerman’s criminal record has earned him infamy in his hometown of downtown Los Angeles. Taken to court for his recent activity, Darren Wall, who is the openly gay supervising coach of the same college women’s baseball team that Warren coaches, convinces the judge to have Warren plead as innocent. The judge agrees, but warns that if Warren commits one more crime, he will be sentenced to five years in prison. The next day, as Warren insults players at a training game, Darren is knocked out unconscious by a helmet thrown at him, and training is temporarily paused. Later, in an attempt to calm Warren down, Darren takes Warren to the park, where they meet Jackie Falls, a homophobic woman that Warren went to college with, and her smarter boyfriend Bobby. Darren wants to encourage Jackie why all gay people aren’t bad, but Warren says it’s not worth it. Darren’s various attempts to encourage Warren in respecting women more than he usually does fails. The next day, Warren plays baseball with Bobby at the college, but Bobby quickly becomes a misogynist thanks to Warren’s behavior, much to Jackie’s delight. Later that night, Warren arrives to his two story home to find it being burnt down by a drunk man. After retrieving a set of action figures he got from his parents as a kid, Darren invites Warren to stay with him and his alcoholic husband Larry at their house.
