Tug of war is a traditional sport that pits two teams against each other in a test of strength, coordination, and teamwork. The goal is for each team to pull a rope in opposite directions, attempting to drag the opposing team across a central marker or line. Tug of war emphasises physical strength, endurance, and strategic coordination among team members. It has roots in ancient cultures and was a popular event in early 20th-century Olympics. Work experience task Sketch an initial design concept for a shoe that could be used for tug of war. Label the different parts, explaining the materials and features you’ve chosen. Consider the specific movements and demands of tug of war to ensure your shoe enhances performance and provides maximum support and safety. Think about: the materials you’d use; how you’d design the sole; the shape and fit of the shoe; the weight of the materials used; comfort features; aesthetic features; and any other additional features.
