I want to explore an alternative to the political compass, using axes more relevant to the political divisions most fundamental to the present age. My choices for these axes are: Top down governance (eg priesthoods, technocracies) vs bottom up (eg democracy, markets); bio-conservative vs transhumanist; egalitarian (christian/pseudo-christian morality or Nietzsche's 'slave morality') vs heroic (elite human capital, no inherent human dignity, Nietzsche's master/aristocratic/heroic morality). These axes produce 8 different archetypes: Top down/bio-conservative/egalitarian - "the Patriarch"; Top-down/bio-conservative/heroic - "the Lannister"; Top-down/transhumanist/egalitarian - "the Commissar"; Top-down/transhumanist/heroic - "the techno-feudalist"; Bottom-up/bio-conservative/egalitarian - "the Hobbit"; Bottom-up/bio-conservative/heroic - "the Barbarian"; Bottom-up/transhumanist/egalitarian - "the Cyberpunk"; and finally, Bottom-up/transhumanist/heroic - "the Maxxer". I would like you to illustrate each of these eight archetypes in turn, in a way that brings out the underlying spirit.
