Riley’s School Motor & Speech Support Plan 1. Motor Input Sequence / Motor Planning • Purpose: Support regulation and motor planning before speech practice • Activities (rotate as needed): • Cone running drills • Agility ladder drills • Reaction ball catching • Motor input sequences (example: spins, squats, jumps, sprints in sequence, repeated as needed) • Staff / Support Role: Prompt Riley through the motor input sequence at his own pace; allow flexibility and repetition as required 2. Rest / Regulation • Purpose: Give Riley a short break to regulate before transitioning to talking • Activities: • Short break 2-3 break. Use of a chew tube or crunchy food (example apple sticks or carrot slices) to provide resistance to the jaw. Note: Riley may choose to do nothing, the break is still valid and necessary for regulation. 3. Speech / Oral Motor • Purpose: Practice sequencing speech and jaw/tongue movements after body regulation and in a high success environment • Activities: singing or low pressure 2-3 minutes conversation • Note: Please allow processing time after speaking to Riley for him to respond as this is essential for motor planning.
