Harry sat, frozen, for a long moment, staring at the hair in his palm. Luna Lovegood. He'd never really considered her... well, not really, but he had other witches on his list before her. However, now that he thought about it, there was something most intriguing about the idea. Luna was so unusual, so completely herself and so in tune with all her quirks. Would she like it? What would her feet look like? What would her reactions be? He carefully placed the hair in one of the small glass vials he always kept on his person (one never knows) and tried to return to his essay. However, he soon realized that it was a futile effort. His mind was already elsewhere, planning. In fact, it took Harry nearly two weeks to find the right opportunity. Luna's schedule was erratic at best and chaotic at worst: she often wandered off to look for creatures that may or may not exist, sometimes roping Ginny and (or) himself into those wild chases. But finally, one early afternoon when he had no classes, and using the trusted Marauder's Map, he saw her alone in her Ravenclaw room. She once told him that she had no roommates, which he thought was a bit sad (while another part of him thought that it would have been amazing to be alone to avoid all Boy-Who-Lived nonsense just for a bit) and did all he could to welcome her in his group.
