It was Thanksgiving night, to put it more specifically, it was November 27th in 2008. I was watching, well, more of letting my kids watch as I relaxed, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. Everything with the movie was fine, other than some slight screen jitters as per usual, but nothing could have prepared me for the movie’s ending. We had seen the movie before in theaters, and on previous airings, it the same song as always for the credits, “Ocean Man” I believe it was called, however this airing, it was not. It started with “Ocean Man” but then the screen started jittering harshly as the song was exchanged for these horrid, awful, and, down right ear-bleeding sounds. It seemed to have lyrics, but not much I could make out well other than some harsh cursing. I was dumbfounded, upset, and angry! Why were they playing these awful noises and saying these harsh curse words in a kids movie? My kids seemed to be disturbed too, covering their ears from the harsh noises. About a minute or so into the noise, it cut off and left on some sort of technical difficulties screen. I turned off the TV and decided to go to sleep after that, as did my kids. The next day I posted about this online. It seemed others who watched the movie at that time hadn’t seen this. I don’t necessarily lose sleep over this, but still to this day I think about this incident, was it some weird hacker playing a prank? Some social experiment? The government manipulating our minds?
