It is a live-action adaptation of the beloved Powerpuff Girls cartoon from 1998, which was primarily aimed at kids. However, it makes references to Jerry Orbach and Dirty Dancing, a pair of 80s icons that would be familiar to teens and adults from that time. As such, anyone who knows about Jerry Orbach or Dirty Dancing would be too old for the original cartoon while people who watched the cartoon would in turn have no idea who they are. Then there's the blatant attempts to pander towards the zoomer crowd by toning down the action, making Buttercup a butch lesbian and introducing themes of reputation and social prejudice (when the bulk of Gen Z would've either barely watched the show through reruns or weren't even born yet), making it even more obvious that the crew really had no idea who they wanted to target beyond a vague idea of "the youth". And that's on top of all the drastic changes made to the source material and its characters, which almost seem designed to turn off the people who grew up with the original. Mehr sehen
