A creature called the Rexhound, a distant descendant of small feathered dinosaurs that evolved to fill a role similar to wolves and wild dogs. The Rexhound stands about waist-high to a human, with a lean, athletic frame built for endurance running. Its body combines unmistakably dinosaurian features with canine-like behavior and proportions: A long, balancing tail stiffened with tendons like a raptor’s Powerful hind legs that give it a springy, bounding gait Smaller but dexterous forelimbs tipped with grasping claws A narrow snout lined with sharp interlocking teeth Large forward-facing amber eyes for depth perception A coat of dense proto-feathers that resembles shaggy fur from a distance Its “fur” changes color seasonally — rusty brown in summer, pale gray in winter — helping it blend into forests and plains. Along the spine, longer display feathers rise when it becomes excited or threatened, much like a dog raising its hackles. Behaviorally, the Rexhound is extremely social. Packs communicate through chirps, low booming calls, tail motions, and ear-like feather fans on the sides of the head. They form strong bonds with packmates and can even imprint on humans if raised young. Unlike modern dogs, however, the Rexhound retains some classic predatory dinosaur traits: It hunts using coordinated ambush tactics It can leap several meters vertically It uses its clawed forelimbs to pin prey while biting Its metabolism is highly active, requiring frequent feeding Scientists in Mehr sehen
