## Scenario * **System**: Call of Cthulhu by Gaslight, 7th Edition conventions. * **Party**: 3–4 private detectives, journalists, and other investigators connected to Hudson and Barnes. * **Length**: 3–4 hours. * **Goal**: Survive the attack, investigate the Caribbean Sugar Company, expose Benjamin Crowley, and stop the satanic rite. ## Opening — 20–30 minutes Hudson and Barnes are old and wish to retire to a sunny climate. They summon each investigator to their house. The unlocked house is clean and neat, but half-packed trunks, untouched tea, a missed travel date, torn ticket, searched drawer, and overturned chair suggest their departure was interrupted. Their normally alphabetical study bookcase is disturbed, and one missing book is a genealogy of the Everret family. It records the genuine illegitimate bastard son whose identity was stolen. Each player finds the same envelope: > We are passing this house and our investigation company over to you. We are old, and it is time for us to retire and enjoy life in a sunny climate.
