This experiment investigated the performance, combustion, and emission characteristics of a Nerium-water emulsion in a direct injection (DI) diesel engine. A diethyl ether (DEE) fuel additive was added in varying ratios of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The study was conducted using a single-cylinder, water-cooled diesel engine under steady-state conditions. During the test, various parameters were analyzed, including brake thermal efficiency, specific energy consumption, in-cylinder pressure, heat release rate (HRR), and emissions of hazardous pollutants. The experiments demonstrated that the Nerium-water emulsion combined with diethyl ether (DEE) effectively reduced nitrogen oxides and smoke opacity while maintaining brake thermal efficiency. Among the different blends tested, the 15% DEE mixture showed the best performance, resulting in lower emissions compared to the 5% and 10% DEE blends.
