By the end of the day, Lily was full of BIG feelings. Sad feelings. Mad feelings. Lonely feelings. The feelings swirled inside her like a thunderstorm. “I want to yell!” Lily huffed. “I want to stomp!” “I want to say something mean!” Her cheeks got hot. Her fists got tight. And then— A tiny tear slipped down her face. Plip. Then another. Plop. And another. PLOOSH. Soon tears poured from Lily’s eyes like waterfalls. They rushed down the hallway. They splashed through the cafeteria. They bubbled into classrooms. “The school is flooding!” shouted the principal, rolling by in a canoe. Kids floated past on cafeteria trays. The librarian sailed by on a dictionary. Even the class hamster paddled past in a tiny toy boat. Lily cried harder. “I’m sad because my friend left me!” she wailed. The tears rose higher and higher. Then Lily heard a quiet voice beside her. It was the school counselor. “Big feelings are okay,” the counselor said gently. “But we get to choose what we do with them.” Lily Mehr sehen
