A multi-level, dark stage set for an opera, depicting mansion rooms like a living room, office, and bedroom, with an orchestra performing below.

I would like to see the set for Bellini’s opera *Il Pirata* at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, which would serve as the sprawling mansion of Ernesto, a modern-day Sicilian mafia boss. The spaces (the living room, Ernesto’s office, Imogene’s bedroom, his son’s bedroom, Solitario’s cell, and the attic where the chorus would live) would be arranged hierarchically across three levels. Rhythm, expression, and originality, without excessive realism but with strength and clarity. To make the different spaces appear or disappear as the action requires, one can use panels, curtains, shutters, or blinds... The staircase and lighting provide depth, as the set must occupy the entire stage but be “pinned” as close as possible to the orchestra pit—and thus to the audience. Frontal.
