The building has an organic, slightly irregular layout, with multiple wings and later additions rather than a symmetrical plan. Exterior walls are rough local granite with thick masonry and deep window reveals. Roofs are dark Cornish slate, with several different roof heights and irregular gables reflecting centuries of additions. Chimneys are sturdy stone stacks. Windows are a mixture of small-paned sash windows and older mullioned windows, giving a sense of different building periods. The house feels ancestral, weathered, and lived-in rather than grand—a comfortable rural farmhouse rather than a manor. There is a turret folly on one corner, rising just above the roof. The setting is remote Cornish countryside. The house sits within a slightly informal garden with a small orchard nearby. Close to the house are elm, birch, and holly trees.
